How Chipo compares prices
For each product, Chipo sets two prices side by side: the best Swiss price and the best Amazon price delivered to Switzerland. Here is where they come from and how they are compared.
The best Swiss price
Every night, Chipo checks on the Toppreise.ch comparison site the offers of seven large Swiss retailers: Digitec, Galaxus, Brack, Interdiscount, MediaMarkt, Fust, Manor. Only offers that can be delivered are kept. The best Swiss price is the cheapest of them, retailer shipping included.
The best Amazon price
Chipo checks the price of the same product on amazon.de, amazon.fr and amazon.it for delivery to a Swiss address. The price used is the one shown in Swiss francs, Swiss VAT included, for an offer sold or shipped by Amazon. The cheapest of the three sites is the Amazon price on the product page.
Shipping
Below EUR 49.- per order, Amazon charges EUR 6.99 shipping to Switzerland on .de, .fr and .it (converted to CHF at today's rate). Chipo adds this shipping to the Amazon price shown. Above that, delivery is free on items sold and shipped by Amazon. Both sides are therefore compared shipping included.
Winner and tie
The lower of the two prices wins. When the gap is neither above 2% of the Swiss price nor above CHF 5.-, Chipo shows an equivalent price. Lists are sorted by amount saved, from largest to smallest.
Freshness
Prices are checked every night. Each product page shows the date and time of the last check. Prices can change between two checks. The price that counts is the one in the seller's basket.
Independence
Chipo is published in Switzerland by Michel Mivelaz (Mivelaz Consulting, Lonay). Amazon and some retailers pay a commission on purchases made from Chipo. The price paid does not change, nor does the ranking. It depends only on the price gap.
